Agency Introduction
Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin is located in Racine County, approximately 20 miles south of Milwaukee and 70 miles north of Chicago. It is one of the largest and fastest growing villages in Wisconsin, encompassing 36 square miles and almost 30,000 residents. With the recent addition of major corporations like FoxConn and Microsoft, Mount Pleasant is rapidly expanding and the Mount Pleasant Police Department (MPPD) anticipates noticeable growth in the next few years. The MPPD is currently home to 56 sworn officers and 10 administrative staff, including 3 K-9s (2 patrol; 1 electronics detection), 2 task force officers (FBI Gang and Metro Drug Task Forces), 2 Community Oriented Policing Officers (COP), 1 School Resource Officer (SRO) and more. In addition, the department supports several specialties including a joint tactical team, drone program, motorcycle/traffic unit, evidence techs, training instructors and more.
The MPPD is accredited through the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group (WILEAG) and is a member of the Wisconsin Police Executive Group (WI PEG), representing the largest police departments in Wisconsin.
The MPPD has a lateral transfer program, allowing experienced officers a streamlined hiring/selection process, credit for years of sworn service towards their starting pay and vacation, and accelerated field training.
